A BUSY WEEK
Tuesday was Choro day in Brazil. We celebrated in the best possible way. Going to a Choro event, of course. This was the party for the release of the first CD of Abraçando o Jacaré, in Restaurante Aprazível, in Santa Teresa. A beautiful place, with a fabulous view of Rio. The music was very nice, the group was happy, full of energy, sparkling. There was free beer and caldo verde for everyone. But I will let Tom, reporter at large, offer our readers a detailed description of the evening.
Yesterday we started the recording of the CD of Music for flutes by our friend Sergio Roberto de Oliveira. The piece was Mot pour Laura. The recording was tiring, but fun. It was done at Sergio's recording studio, which he shares with his friend and recording engineer Marcelo. Located in Rio Comprido, right next to Tunel Rebouças, it is easily accessible from both the North Zone and the South Zone. Besides a beautiful view of the Corcovado, it offers state of the art technology, comfortable space for the musicians (with the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen in a Recording Studio) and competent production. A true pleasure.
At 1.00 AM, after we finished with all the takes, we went to Diagonal to eat picanha and farofa. A great combination!

PARATY
Hello readers, how have you been? We are sorry to have disappeared. There is a simple explanation for that, though. Tom is here in Brazil, we are playing a concert on Thursday. So that means we have to
1- practice
2- rehearse
3- see our friends
4- have fun
Thus the blog is temporarily the last of a long list of priorities... We promise that we will be back, as soon as the recital is behind us. And for now, let me just tell you what we did this weekend: we went to Paraty, where we played in a wedding.
The wedding itself was beautiful, chic and simple (with excellent choice of music, that goes without saying!). The party afterwards was also wonderful, with tons of laughter, music and dance, and fabulous food as well. This was on Saturday. On Sunday we (we includes Júlia and Manoela), rented a boat with sailor included, and went sailing for 4 hours.
We got to swim right next to millions of colorful fish which ate cookies from our hands , we got tanned and gorgeous (well, some of us just got red and shiny, but I will be merciful and will mention no names...) and ate shrimp and squid sitting under a little hut on a paradisiacal little island. After some great t-shirt shopping (Paraty has a very nice store called Tangerina...) we ate some scrumptious desserts and closed a perfect weekend, heading back to Rio.
As you see, we lead a tough life...

APRIL FOOL'S DAY
I waited until today to see if someone would spot my April 1rst hoax. Come on, guys! Sound Wave Interference in Sexual behavior? How could you buy that? And not even the Dance of the blessed Spirits gave you a hint? I just wonder how many "scientific facts" that we believe have the same origin as my little post. By the way, read all the proper names from right to left, to see what they really mean. With the exception of Munchaus, they are all fake. How about Munchaus, didn't it ring a bell? I took it from the Baron of Munchausen...

Ashes of Life

Love has gone and left me and the days are all alike;
Eat I must, and sleep I will, -- and would that night were here!
But ah! -- to lie awake and hear the slow hours strike!
Would that it were day again! -- with twilight near!

Love has gone and left me and I don't know what to do;
This or that or what you will is all the same to me;
But all the things that I begin I leave before I'm through, --
There's little use in anything as far as I can see.

Love has gone and left me, -- and the neighbors knock and borrow,
And life goes on forever like the gnawing of a mouse, --
And to-morrow and to-morrow and to-morrow and to-morrow
There's this little street and this little house.
